About This Bibliography This Bibliography covers works on David Crosby. The Bibliographies Chapter contains separate Bibliographies covering the Byrds, the Burritos, and the more significant band members (see the Navigation Bar); the rest are covered in a catchall for the Other Byrds. A separate Bibliography covers Related Topics, and a final Bibliography cites Music References. If a book is in print, most good bookstores can special order a copy for you with the ISBN number, which is provided. Throughout the text of ByrdWatcher you'll find notes and other citations with links to the entries in the various Bibliographies.

BBC Radio 2: "Desert Island Dave." Full Circle No. 6 (Spring 1990) at 17 - 20. Transcript of Crosby's narration on BBC radio show Sounds of the '60s, in which personalities select and discuss favorite songs from the era. Wally Breese: "A Conversation with David Crosby." Two part interview for the JoniMitchell.Com website, dated March 15, 1997, found at http://www.jonimitchell.com/Croz97A.html and http://www.jonimitchell.com/Croz97B.html. Mark Christensen: "A Long Time Gone." Rolling Stone (November 21, 1985) at 46-50+. David Crosby and Carl Gottlieb: Long Time Gone: The Autobiography of David Crosby (New York: Doubleday, 1988). 489 pp. ISBN: 0-385-24530-0. $18.95. Crosby's autobiography contains interesting material about his early life and pre-Byrds music career. His time with the Byrds and with Crosby Stills & Nash gets short shrift -- don't expect Crosby's side on any of the various controversies with the Byrds or Stills and Nash. Much of the book is taken up with the sordid doings of his basehead phase, and his successful struggle to get clean, do his time, and resume his musical career. Despite skimping on the musical side, this is an interesting and entertaining bio. Chet Flippo: Liner Notes to CSN Boxed Set (Atlantic, 1991) at 3-8. Rafaelle Galli: "The Return of Crosby." Full Circle No. 3 (Spring 1989) at 15 - 18. March 3, 1989 interview. John Patrick Gatta: "Crosby Stills and Nash." Relix Vol. 24 No. 4 (August 1997) at 26 - 27. Account of CSN activities in Kent and Cleveland the weekend of their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. J. Gemmill: "David Crosby: Following His Heart. The Old Grey Cay Interview." Interview for the Old Grey Cat webzine, dated August 18, 1997, found at http://www.geocities.com/~oldgreycat/crosby.htm. Todd Gold: "Second Chance." People (February 20, 1995) at 34-37. The story on Crosby's 1994 liver transplant. Sid Griffin: "Early L.A. and Other Stories." Full Circle No. 21 (Spring 1994) at 19 - 24. Interview with Crosby intended but never used for the booklet of the The Byrds Boxed Set. Edward Kiersh: "David Crosby of Crosby Stills and Nash: The Loss of an American Hero." In Where Are You Now, Bo Diddley? (Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Co., 1986). 387 pp. ISBN: 0-385-19610-5. $9.95. A where-is-he-now? update on Crosby during his mid '80s outlaw basehead period. Travis Moon: "Interview with David Crosby." Interview dated April 14, 1996, found at http://www.sb.net/free/crosintvw.html. Michael Parrish: "Crosby & Nash: Still Harmonious After All These Years." Dirty Linen # 76 (June/July 1998) at 47-50+. Johnny Rogan: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young: A Visual Documentary. (New York: Omnibus Press, 1996). 176 pp. ISBN: 0-7119-4982-4. $24.95. A day-by-day compendium of the activities of CSN&Y and its members from the beginning of their respective musical careers, accompanied with lots of great photos. Craig Rosen: "Crosby Changes Path for New Set." Billboard (May 15, 1993) at 12+. Steve Silberman: "An Egg Thief in Cyberspace." Goldmine #390 (July 7, 1995) at 16-46. Lengthy interview touching on most phases of Crosby's career, available on the web at http://www.levity.com/digaland/crosby95.html. Steve Silberman: "Selected David Crosby Rarities on Vinyl & Tape." Goldmine #390 (July 7, 1995) at 46-52+. Nice details on some of the more obscure entries in the Crosby discography, including several boots. Dallas Taylor: Prisoner of Woodstock (New York: Thunder's Mouth Press, 1994). 242 pp. ISBN: 1-56025-072-0. $22.95. A memoir by the Crosby Stills & Nash drummer, who like Crosby has abused sundry substances and lived to tell about it with the help of a liver transplant. Not much here on Crosby, but the Woodstock remeniscences are interesting. Dave Zimmer & Henry Diltz: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young: The Authorized Biography. (New York: St. Martin's Press, 1984). 268 pp. ISBN: 0-312-17660-0. $13.95. Detailed authorized bio with photos by CSNY chum Diltz.
